How to connect Google Calendar to Dayplan

Open Settings → Calendars, select Connect on the Google Calendar row, and approve access in the Google window. Dayplan shows your Google events read only and keeps them up to date. Google Calendar sync is part of Dayplan Pro.

Connecting Google Calendar puts your meetings on Dayplan's calendar, right next to your tasks, so you can plan work around the time you really have. Dayplan only reads your Google calendars. It never adds, changes, or deletes events in Google.

Before you start

  • Google Calendar sync is part of Dayplan Pro. See Plans.
  • Allow pop-ups for Dayplan in your browser. Google sign-in opens in a small window.
  • Dayplan asks Google for permission to see your list of calendars and read their events. It doesn't ask for permission to edit them.

Connect your Google account

  1. Open Settings → Calendars. You can also select Add calendar at the bottom of the calendar list on the Calendar page, or Connect calendar at the top of that page.
  2. On the Google Calendar row, select Connect. A Google window opens.
  3. Choose your Google account and approve access. The window closes.
  4. Wait a moment while Dayplan imports your calendars and events. A line such as "Google synced 4 calendars, 120 updates, 0 deletions." confirms it worked, and the row shows Connected.

Your Google events now appear on the Calendar page and in the calendar beside your lists.

Connect another Google account

You can connect more than one Google account, for example a work and a personal account.

  1. In Settings → Calendars, find the Add Google account row below your connected account.
  2. Select Connect and choose the other account in the Google window.

Each account gets its own row with Sync now, Reconnect, and Disconnect.

Choose which calendars show

Every calendar from your Google accounts is listed under Synced calendars in Settings → Calendars:

  • Show in Dayplan shows or hides the calendar everywhere in Dayplan.
  • Pull controls whether Dayplan keeps importing events from it.
  • Read only means Dayplan shows the events but can't change them.

To hide a calendar for a moment without changing settings, clear its checkbox in the calendar list on the Calendar page. That only lasts for your current visit.

Meetings also appear in Today and Horizon (Dayplan's home view) as read-only cards next to your tasks. To keep them on the calendar only, turn off Show events as tasks in Settings → Calendars.

How syncing works

  • Direction: one way, from Google to Dayplan. Changes you make in Google show up in Dayplan. Dayplan doesn't write to Google.
  • Timing: you'll notice that a change made in Google can take a few minutes to show up. That's because Dayplan checks connected calendars about every five minutes, and also refreshes when you open the Calendar page. Select Sync now on an account to pull the latest events right away.
  • Range: Dayplan keeps events from about the past year and the next two years.

Select a Google event on the calendar to see its details. From there you can select Open in Google Calendar, Hide from Dayplan for that one event, or Remove from tasks to keep it off your task lists but on the calendar.

Reconnect an account

If Google access expires or you removed it on Google's side, the calendar shows Sync failed under Synced calendars. Select reconnect in that message, or Reconnect on the account's row, and approve access again.

Disconnect an account

  1. In Settings → Calendars, find the account's row.
  2. Select Disconnect.

Dayplan deletes the stored connection and hides that account's calendars. Nothing changes in your Google Calendar. If you connect the same account again later, its calendars come back. You can also remove Dayplan's access from your Google Account settings.

If your plan changes

On the Free plan, including after a Pro trial or subscription ends, Google sync pauses and your Google events are hidden in Dayplan. Nothing is lost: your connection is kept. Settings → Calendars shows Sync paused with Upgrade to Pro, and you can still select Disconnect. When you upgrade, your events come back. See What happens when Pro ends.

Frequently asked questions

Can Dayplan add or edit events in my Google Calendar?

No. Google calendars are read only in Dayplan, which is why you'll see Read only next to each one. Events you create in Dayplan stay on Dayplan's own calendar.

Can I connect more than one Google account?

Yes. Use the Add Google account row in Settings → Calendars to connect each additional account.

How quickly do changes from Google show up?

Usually within a few minutes. Select Sync now on the account in Settings → Calendars to refresh immediately.

Does disconnecting delete anything in Google?

No. Disconnecting only removes Dayplan's stored access and hides those calendars in Dayplan. Your Google Calendar isn't touched.

Why don't I see my Google events?

Check that Show in Dayplan and Pull are on for the calendar, and that your plan includes calendar sync. For more fixes, see Troubleshoot calendar sync.
