Message the Dayplan team
Select your profile picture at the bottom of the sidebar, then Message us. Type your message, add screenshots if they help, and press Enter. A person on the Dayplan team replies in the same conversation, and by email if you haven't seen the reply.
Message us is one ongoing conversation between you and the Dayplan team. Use it to ask a question, report a bug, share an idea, or say hi. You write from Dayplan, a person on the team reads it and answers, and every message from both sides stays in the same conversation.
Before you start
You need to be signed in to Dayplan. Messaging works in Dayplan on a computer and in a phone's browser.
Send a message from the web
- Select your profile picture at the bottom of the sidebar to open the account menu.
- Select Message us. The conversation opens as a panel beside the page you're on, so you can keep looking at what you want to ask about.
- Type in Write a message….
- Press Enter or select Send. To start a new line instead, press Shift Enter.
Your message appears in the conversation right away with Sending… under it, then with its time once it has arrived. Select Close to put the panel away. Nothing is lost: the whole conversation is there the next time you open it.
Add screenshots
A screenshot is often the fastest way to show what you mean. Add one in any of these ways:
- Paste it into the message box.
- Drag it onto the conversation.
- Select Attach images (the paperclip) and pick a file.
You can add up to 4 images per message. PNG, JPEG, WebP, and GIF images work, up to 10 MB each. Images show as small thumbnails above the message box while they upload; select Remove image on one to take it off before you send. You can send images on their own, without any text.
Know when the team replied
You don't need to keep the conversation open to catch a reply. When the team answers, a red dot appears on your profile picture and beside Message us in the account menu. The dot goes away once the reply has been on your screen.
If the conversation is open, the reply appears in it within a few seconds.
Get replies by email
If you haven't seen a reply in Dayplan after about 3 minutes, we also send it to the email address on your account, with the subject "Ioana replied to your message" (or "Ioana sent you a message" if we wrote to you first). Several quick replies arrive together in one email.
Select Reply in Dayplan in the email to continue the conversation.
Tip: Answer through Reply in Dayplan rather than replying to the email. An email reply reaches the team, but it won't appear in your conversation in Dayplan.
Message us from a phone's browser
Dayplan's planner is built for a computer screen, but the conversation works in any phone browser. Open the link in a reply email, or go to app.dayplan.do/messages. If you aren't signed in, Dayplan asks you to sign in first and then brings you straight back to the conversation.
If you open the same address on a computer, Dayplan opens your planner with the Message us panel already open.
What's stored
Your messages and screenshots are kept so we can answer you, until you delete your Dayplan account. Deleting your account deletes the conversation, its screenshots, and the record of reply emails sent to you.
When you attach a photo, Dayplan resizes it and saves a fresh copy before sending it. This removes hidden details such as where the photo was taken. Small PNG screenshots and GIFs are sent as they are, with any details the file already carries.
Only you and the Dayplan team can see your conversation and its images.
Troubleshooting
A message says "Couldn't send". Check your connection, then select Retry. The message is sent once, even if you retry more than once. Select Remove to drop it instead.
"An image didn't upload. Retry or remove it." Select Retry on the image's thumbnail, or Remove image to send without it. Dayplan won't send the message while an image is still failing.
"Only PNG, JPEG, WebP or GIF images". That file type can't be attached. Take a screenshot of it instead.
"Too large (10 MB max)". Make the image smaller, or take a screenshot of the part that matters.
"Couldn't read that image. Try a screenshot instead." Dayplan couldn't open the file to resize it. A screenshot of the same thing will work.
"You've hit today's screenshot limit. Try again tomorrow." There's a daily limit on how much you can upload. You can still send text messages.
"Couldn't load messages." Check your connection, then select Try again.
